We have been reviewing the admission charges for musicians. As you know the regular musicians' practice sessions, 7.30 - 8.30, are free and have been well attended. However, many people stay on after 8.30 to dance, enjoy the band and/or play, and have not been sure what to pay - some have paid full rate, while others have assumed that they are not expected to pay. The Committee feels that the present situation isn't very clear, and can be unfair.
To clarify the situation, we intend to introduce the following admission charging policy from September 06:
Musicians who participate in the playing have free admission for the whole evening.
Musicians who participate in the playing have free admission for the whole evening.
We think that this recognises that some musicians will contribute to the music for dancing after 8.30 on Club and Tutor Nights, but does not imply any obligation on them to do so.
Everybody pays. Musicians will be welcome to play during any interval (as agreed with the band) but the normal charge will apply for these nights unless otherwise arranged in advance with the committee. (The musicians' practice will be abandoned on these nights to give the band time to set up).
